Cosmetics by Katakami Inc. was founded by Kristin Katakami who has a BSc (Hons) degree in Cosmetic Science, (University of the Arts London - UK), a Diploma in Professional Studies (University of the Arts London – UK), chemistry training (McEwan University - Edmonton), a Hairstylist Journeyman’s License (Alberta Apprenticeship and Training - Alberta) and Red Seal Endorsement (Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship - Canada).
She started her love for the beauty industry in 2004 where she apprenticed as a hair colourist while also studying for her BSc in Chemistry. She soon realized her passion for both chemistry and the beauty industry was a very specific and niche study. She found the University of the Arts in London offered BSc in Cosmetic Science and moved to London to pursue her passion. She graduated top of class and with First Class Honours.
Kristin has previously worked at two large contract R&D and manufactures of cosmetics (UK and Australia), at a cosmetic and personal care raw material manufacturer (Germany), at an in-house brand manufacturer (Australia) and another start-up R&D and manufacturer (Canada).
She specializes in new product development in body care, skin care and self tanning products.
